🌪 Luftstrom Four
The fastest parts made, in the case built to cope with them
Luftstrom Four is the top of the series and the top of what is currently possible. An RTX 5090 and a Ryzen 7 9850X3D is the fastest gaming pairing you can buy, and between them they produce more heat than any other machine we build.
That is the argument for putting them here rather than behind a sealed glass panel. Mesh front, three 140mm intakes, and a scoop moulded into the floor that feeds cool air directly onto a graphics card drawing 575W. The parts stay in their comfortable range, the fans stay slow, and the machine does not spend its life shouting about what it is doing.
This is also the only Luftstrom with the white ASUS ROG Strix board, which brings Wi-Fi 7, four M.2 slots and a PCIe 5.0 graphics slot. At this price we would rather not leave anything on the table.
🧬 Built to last, designed to evolve
This system is built on AMD's latest AM5 platform, which offers one of the best upgrade paths available today. That means you can start with a great processor now and still have room to move up the stack later, while keeping the same motherboard, case, power supply and most of your core components. GPU, storage and cooling are all easily upgradable so the system can grow with your needs over time.
📃 Specifications
- 🧠 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- 8 cores, 16 threads of Zen 5 with 96MB of L3 cache, using second-generation 3D V-Cache mounted underneath the cores rather than on top. That is what allows it to clock high and cache heavily at the same time, which earlier X3D chips could not do
- 4.7GHz base, 5.6GHz boost, 120W TDP, fully unlocked
- Straight answer on the 9850X3D versus the 9800X3D in Luftstrom Three: it is around 3 to 4% quicker in games and roughly the same in productivity. It is the faster chip and it belongs at this tier, but we are not going to pretend the gap is larger than it is
- What matters more is what X3D does against everything that is not X3D. In CPU-bound scenarios - competitive shooters, large simulation games, heavily modded worlds - the cache is what sets the ceiling, not the graphics card
- Despite the 120W rating it will pull closer to 160W sustained, which is part of why this build steps up to the 280mm radiator
- ❄️ CPU cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 280 A-RGB (white)
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- 280mm radiator with two 140mm P14 Pro A-RGB fans, plus the 60mm fan built into the pump head that cools the motherboard's power stages directly. Most AIOs leave that area to chance
- A 38mm thick radiator rather than the usual 27mm, so the surface area is closer to a conventional 360mm than the 280 label suggests. Two 140mm fans also move a similar volume of air to three 120mm fans while spinning slower, which is the whole point on a build where noise is the thing you notice
- Being clear about this: 280mm is the largest radiator this case takes in the top, and it is what we have fitted. It is ample for a 9850X3D even with the Ultimate Performance Tune applied. If you specifically want a 360mm on a 5090 build, the Ark series uses a case that takes one
- Offset cold plate aligned to where AMD puts the heat on AM5, MX-6 paste pre-applied, and a 6 year ARCTIC warranty
- Mounted in the top as exhaust, so CPU heat leaves the case immediately rather than being pushed back down onto the graphics card
- 🔲 Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi (ATX, white)
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- All-white, and white right down to the PCB itself rather than a black board with white heatsinks bolted on. It is the reason this is the board we chose for the top of a white series
- 14+2+2 power stages rated at 80A each, fed by an 8+8-pin ProCool connector. Plain English translation: power delivery well beyond anything socket AM5 can ask for, so the board never becomes the limit, whether you overclock now or move up the stack in a few years
- PCIe 5.0 x16 for the graphics card, which makes this the only Luftstrom with a Gen5 graphics slot. The RTX 5090 is a Gen5 card, so here it runs on the interface it was designed for
- PCIe Slot Q-Release Slim. On a card the size and weight of a 5090 this genuinely matters: the release catch is operated from the edge rather than by reaching underneath the card and feeling for a tab you cannot see
- Four M.2 slots, one of them PCIe Gen5 x4, all with Q-Latch tool-free mounting. Three drives can be added later without touching what is already installed
- Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and Intel 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet with LANGuard. ROG SupremeFX audio on the ALC4080 codec, and a Thunderbolt USB4 header if you ever want it
- PC36 only uses motherboards chosen for stability and longevity. See our Trusted brands page
- 📏 Memory / RAM: 48GB (2×24GB) DDR5-6000 CL36
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- EXPO-tuned dual channel DDR5-6000 CL36, which is the sweet spot Ryzen responds to best on AM5. Two sticks rather than four, so the memory controller runs at its rated speed rather than being backed off to keep four modules stable
- 48GB rather than the 32GB used further down the series. At this tier the extra capacity is small relative to the build and it removes the one bottleneck that is genuinely annoying to fix later. Heavily modded games, large worlds, streaming with a browser full of tabs, or editing alongside a game running - none of those get to be the reason the machine stutters
- Two of the four DIMM slots stay free. Specification guaranteed, model may vary. Happy to confirm the exact part on request
- 💾 Storage: 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD (TLC)
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- TLC flash rated at 6,500MB/s or better, which holds its speed through long sustained writes rather than dropping off once a cache fills. On a build at this price we do not fit QLC drives
- Higher write endurance than the entry-tier alternative, which matters if you record gameplay at 4K, edit video, or install and uninstall a lot
- 1TB is the starting point rather than the intention here. Three further M.2 slots sit free on this board, including a Gen5 socket, so adding storage later needs no compromises. Most buyers at this level take the 2TB option below
- Specification guaranteed, model may vary. Happy to confirm the exact part on request
- 🎮 Graphics card: NVIDIA RTX 5090 32GB (shipped separately for safety, see below)
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- This is a bulky and valuable graphics card, and as such it will be shipped separately with instructions for you to install it upon receipt
- To be clear about what that means: the card is fitted into this exact system, stress tested in it, and only then carefully removed and boxed for transit. Your machine is built and validated as a whole. We do not drop-ship graphics cards or send you parts to assemble
- The fastest consumer graphics card in the world. 4K at maximum settings with path tracing enabled and DLSS 4 multi frame generation is comfortable rather than aspirational, and there is nothing currently sold that will make it struggle
- 32GB of GDDR7 on a 512-bit bus. For gaming that is more memory than any current title needs, which is the point - it is the buffer that keeps this card relevant several years from now. For 3D, AI and video work it is the single most useful number on this listing
- 575W under load. In most cases that is a problem to be managed. Here it sits directly above the floor scoop, taking cool outside air rather than air the rest of the system has already warmed, with three 140mm fans feeding the chamber from the front
- The chipset and VRAM are guaranteed: it will always be an RTX 5090 with 32GB. The AIB brand varies with availability, and we only use established manufacturers. See our Trusted brands page for more info
- 🧰 Case: Fractal Meshify 3 Ambience Pro RGB (white)
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- The reason this series exists, and it earns that reputation hardest on this build. Full mesh front panel with dust filtering, plus an air guide and a moulded scoop in the floor that directs intake air onto the graphics card instead of letting it wander
- Three 140mm Momentum A-RGB fans included as front intake. Most cases at any price ship with 120mm fans, and 140mm fans move more air per revolution, so they can spin slower for the same result
- The Adjust Pro Hub controls all the lighting from the case itself. No software to install, nothing running in the background, and the setting is remembered by the hub. That fits how we set machines up: we do not want a lighting app sat in your system tray
- Tempered glass side panel, tool-free access, and Fractal's usual restrained Scandinavian finish rather than gamer styling
- Supports graphics cards up to 349mm. Most RTX 5090 models fit comfortably inside that, and we check clearance on the specific card before it goes in
- 🌬️ Case cooling: 3 × 140mm front intake and 1 × 120mm ARGB rear exhaust, plus 2 × 140mm on the AIO radiator
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- Three 140mm Momentum A-RGB fans pull cool air in through the mesh front. We add a 120mm ARGB exhaust at the rear so warm air leaves on the shortest path rather than collecting behind the card
- The AIO sits in the top as exhaust. Front in, top and rear out, which is the configuration this case was designed around, and it keeps CPU heat entirely separate from the graphics card
- Five of the six fans in this build are 140mm rather than 120mm. On a machine capable of putting more than 700W into a room, larger fans moving the required air at lower speed is the difference between a system you can sit next to and one you cannot
- Slight positive pressure by design, so air enters through the filtered front rather than being pulled in through every gap in the chassis. In practice that means noticeably less dust inside a year from now
- All fans tuned to a manual curve before dispatch rather than left on the motherboard's defaults. ARGB is controlled from the Adjust Pro Hub and can be turned off entirely without affecting the look of the build
- ⚡ Power supply: Corsair RM1000e 1000W ATX 3.1 (white), fully modular
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- Includes a native 600W 12V-2x6 cable with Corsair's ThermalProtect over-temperature protection built into the connector itself. Given the history that this connector has on high-power cards, a power supply that monitors the temperature at the plug and shuts down before anything is damaged is the single most reassuring thing you can specify on a 5090 build. The card plugs straight in with no adaptor and no dongle
- The white version, with white cables, so the machine stays white all the way through. That is the whole reason we specify this unit here rather than the black one
- ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 certified, built to absorb the brief power spikes the RTX 5090 produces rather than tripping over them. On a card of this draw that certification is doing real work
- 1000W is NVIDIA's recommended figure for the RTX 5090, and it covers this build with the CPU at full load at the same time
- Zero RPM mode means the PSU fan does not spin at all under light and moderate load, so in desktop use and lighter games it contributes no noise whatsoever
- 105°C-rated capacitors and a seven year Corsair warranty
- 🔌 Cabling: White cabling throughout, included as standard
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- The white RM1000e ships with white cables in the box, so the visible cabling matches the build without extensions or adapters
- Fully modular, so only the cables this build actually uses are installed. Nothing spare is left cluttering the rear of the case
- Routed and tied through the case's cable channels, tidy but not overtightened, so future upgrades do not mean undoing everything first
- 📶 WiFi / Bluetooth / Ethernet: Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and Intel 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, included
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- Built into the ASUS ROG Strix B850-A Gaming WiFi. No separate adapter needed, and the aerial is supplied in the box
- Wi-Fi 7 adds the 6GHz band and wider channels, which is usually far less congested than 2.4 and 5GHz if your router supports it. This is the only Luftstrom with Wi-Fi 7 rather than 6E
- Intel 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet with ASUS LANGuard surge protection, for a wired connection. We would still recommend wired for competitive play
- 🪟 Operating system: As chosen by you from the listing options below. Windows 11 Home (OEM) is recommended.
- 🧹 Setup and optimisation: PC36 High-Class Standard. Full stress test with certificate, bloat-free installation, and BIOS set up properly
Click or tap for deeper spec info
PC36 High-Class Standard, included free with every build
- Ready the moment you open the box. Your PC boots straight into Windows with a local account already set up. No account sign-in wall, no first-run questionnaire, no half-hour of setup before you can use the machine you just bought
- BIOS updated and configured properly: manual fan curves, PBO enabled, EXPO/XMP enabled, Secure Boot enabled
- Vanilla Windows 11 installation if you choose Windows, with no bloatware added by us, and all drivers loaded and ready to go
- Full stress test with certificate. Every system is torture tested on CPU, RAM and GPU before dispatch, and ships with the certificate to prove it
PC36 Premier Optimisation, available in the listing options
- CPU tuning to bring thermals and noise down with minimal performance loss, plus a deeper strip and debloat of Windows
- Of everything on this page, this is the option that changes how the machine feels to live with. A 5090 build has six fans and a very large heat load, and the difference between default fan behaviour and a properly tuned curve is the difference between hearing it and not. If you buy one option here, buy this one
PC36 Ultimate Performance Tune, available in the listing options
- Advanced overclocking: RAM tune, CPU tune and GPU overclock on top of everything in Premier
- Being straight about where the gains come from. The 9850X3D is fully unlocked and the memory responds well to tuning, and that is where most of the measurable result sits. The RTX 5090 already ships close to its power limit, so the GPU portion returns less than it would on a smaller card. It is still the most capable platform we sell to tune, but the honest headline is CPU and RAM rather than GPU
- 🛡️ Warranty: 3 years parts & labour (return to base)
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- Standard 3-year coverage included, parts and labour both
- Optional extended warranties in the listing options below
Why don't all parts list a brand and model?
Most of our spec is named exactly. The processor, motherboard, case, cooler and power supply are the models listed, every time.
For memory, storage and graphics cards we give a performance and quality guarantee instead of a model name. Supply on these three moves constantly, and pricing with it. Rather than list a part we might not be able to source next week, we commit to the specification: capacity, speed, timings, endurance class. And for graphics cards, we will always give you the chipset (e.g. RTX 5090) and VRAM (e.g. 32GB) that is listed.
We only use parts from established manufacturers. In practice the difference between two well-made components at the same specification is small enough that most people would never notice it.
If you'd like to know exactly what's going into your machine, ask before you order and we'll tell you. If you'd prefer a particular model, we can usually accommodate that, and you'd pay the difference in cost.
👁️ Transparency notes
- The graphics card ships in its own box. This system contains a bulky and highly valuable graphics card. Therefore, we will ship the graphics card in a separate box, and provide simple instructions showing you how to install it. All graphics cards have a point of weakness at the "PCIe" connector. Separate shipping of the card prevents shipping damage to the graphics card which may occur despite our industry-leading packaging methods. If you have any queries about this, please contact us.
- On the 9850X3D specifically. It is currently the fastest gaming processor available, but the gap to the 9800X3D in Luftstrom Three is around 3 to 4% in games. We would rather you knew that from us than found it in a review afterwards. If that difference is what decides whether this build fits your budget, talk to us on live chat and we will spec it the other way.
- The top of this case takes a 280mm radiator at most, which is what is fitted. It is more than enough for this processor, but it does mean there is no cooling upgrade available above it in the top mount. If a 360mm on a 5090 build is what you want, our Ark series uses a case that takes one.
- Power draw is real. An RTX 5090 and a 9850X3D under simultaneous full load will pull meaningfully more from the wall than a typical gaming PC. Nothing about that is a problem for the machine, but it is worth knowing if the room is small or the plug socket is shared with a lot else.
- White components are specified throughout, but the graphics card is the exception. The case, cooler, motherboard, power supply and cabling are white as standard. White RTX 5090 cards exist but are a very small slice of supply, so we fit one where stock allows and tell you before you order if we cannot.
- Product images are representative photos of a similar spec in the same style. Your PC will look similar but not identical. Our support team can help clarify anything you're unsure of.
- RGB heatspreaders on the RAM are not guaranteed unless the quick add-on is chosen.
- Most parts are named models and will be what is delivered. RAM, SSD and graphics card will instead carry a spec guarantee due to current market conditions making stock very variable. This keeps us agile enough to offer good pricing and honest spec lists. If you want clarity on precise models we will use, drop us a live chat on the day you're ready to purchase and we'll confirm it.

Worth a word here. A 5090 aimed at a 60Hz or entry-level 1440p panel is the most common way we see money wasted on a build like this. If your monitor is more than a few years old, upgrading it will change your experience more than any component change we could sell you.
- Storage upgrade to 2TB: available in the listing options below.
Click or tap for more info
Worth it for most people buying at this level. Modern AAA installs regularly run past 150GB each, and if you are capturing footage at 4K the 1TB drive fills faster than you expect. The board has three further M.2 slots so you can also add later rather than now.
- RAM upgrade to 64GB: available in the listing options below.
Click or tap for more info
Worth it only if you already know why you want it - large 3D scenes, local AI models, heavy multi-track video timelines, or virtual machines. For gaming, including heavily modded gaming, the 48GB fitted as standard is not the limit and adding more will not gain you frames.
- Acoustics upgrade to the Noctua Pure Silence setup: choose it from the quick-add upgrades, or speak with us via live chat.
Click or tap for more info
Every case and cooler fan swapped for Noctua NF-A12x25 G2s with a noise profile tuned into the BIOS to match. It is the quietest we can make a machine with current hardware. Two honest caveats: the Noctua fans are 120mm, so the five 140mm fans in this build would be replaced by smaller ones, and no upgrade makes a 5090 truly silent under full load.
Before you consider it, look at Premier Optimisation in the listing options. On this build in particular, tuning the fans already fitted gets you most of the way there for a fraction of the cost, and it is what we would suggest first to almost everyone.
- Extended warranty: available in the listing options below.
Click or tap for more info
3 years parts and labour is included as standard. On a system with this much component value in it, extending that is one of the few upgrades here where the maths is simply about how long you intend to keep it.
- Anything else: speak with us via live chat. Custom loops, specific AIB cards, different cases, larger storage arrays - a build at this level is exactly the sort of thing we would rather discuss with you first.
🎯 What is this PC best for?
- 4K gaming at maximum settings, including path tracing, with headroom left
- High refresh rate 4K, which is the combination that actually needs a card this size
- Competitive shooters at very high frame rates, where the 9850X3D's cache sets the ceiling rather than the graphics card
- 3D rendering, local AI work and heavy video timelines alongside gaming, where the 32GB of VRAM does work no other consumer card can
- VR at high resolution and refresh
- Buyers who want the fastest machine available but do not want to listen to it earning its keep
