A machine this small usually asks you to give something up to get there. Igloo asks for very little. It is white from the case to the power supply cables, there is a handle built into the roof so you can pick the whole thing up and take it to a friend's house, and it plays modern games at 1080p properly rather than adequately. It is a PC you leave out on the desk instead of hiding under one.

The graphics card is why it holds up. Intel's Arc B580 carries 12GB of memory, more than anything else near this price, and video memory is usually the number that decides how long a card stays comfortable. That means 1080p at high settings without thinking about it, and 1440p genuinely on the table with XeSS upscaling doing some of the work.

This PC is already built and ready to ship. The catch? Just one in stock, and it will not be restocked. Our already-built PCs take advantage of supplier deals, which we pass onto you, but aren't repeatable ad infinitum

🧬 Built to last, designed to evolve

Built on Intel's LGA1700 socket. The board has two DDR4 slots and two M.2 slots. The case takes graphics cards up to 342mm and coolers up to 164mm, so there is real room to change the card later despite how small it is. Being honest about the platform: LGA1700 is a mature socket rather than a current one, so this is a machine to upgrade within rather than to build forward from, and the price reflects that.

  • One of the genuinely great value processors of recent years. Six full-size cores with no efficiency cores in the mix, which keeps behaviour simple and predictable, and enough speed that the graphics card is what limits this machine rather than the processor
  • The F suffix means no integrated graphics, which you do not need with a card fitted and which is why it costs less than the chip beside it on the shelf
  • 65W base power, though turbo behaviour normally takes it above that and it will pull up to 117W with every core loaded. That is still a modest heat load, and the 180W-rated tower cooler fitted absorbs it without ever becoming something you can hear

  • Two M.2 slots, both PCIe 3.0. One is used, so a second drive can go straight in
  • Being straight about the chipset. H610 is Intel's entry tier. It does not support memory overclocking and it does not support processor overclocking - however XMP is enabled so the RAM will run at its rated speed. Neither matters here: the memory fitted runs at DDR4-3200, which is exactly the speed this processor officially supports, and the 12400F is a locked chip that was never going to be overclocked on any board. What you are giving up is headroom you were not going to use, and the saving is in the graphics card instead
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in with the aerial supplied. This is Wi-Fi 5 and Gigabit Ethernet, both a step behind our dearer machines, and we would rather tell you here than let you find out. For most people this is plenty of connectivity.
  • Rear I/O has a 10Gbps USB-A, four USB 2.0 ports, and DisplayPort, HDMI and VGA outputs. There is no USB-C on the rear panel, though the case's front USB-C runs from the board's internal header

  • Dual channel is not a detail, it is the difference. A single 16GB stick would cost you real frames here. Two 8GB sticks is the right way to buy 16GB and it is what is fitted

  • This is a PCIe 3.0 drive, and the rest of our range uses PCIe 4.0 at 5,000MB/s or better. We are not going to bury that. In practice the difference is almost invisible: game load times are governed by far more than sequential throughput, and at this level you would struggle to tell them apart with a stopwatch. Where you would notice is copying very large files between drives
  • TLC rather than QLC, which matters more day to day than the PCIe generation does. TLC holds its write speed as the drive fills, where a cheap QLC drive slows down once its cache is used
  • The second M.2 slot stays free, and it is also PCIe 3.0, so a future drive will run at the same speed

  • 12GB is the headline, and it is unusual at this price. Most cards near this money carry 8GB, and video memory is the thing that ages a card fastest. Textures at high settings in a modern title will use more than 8GB at 1440p, and this card has the room to keep going rather than fall off a cliff
  • XeSS upscaling, which is a machine-learning model rather than a simple sharpening pass and holds up well. It is what makes 1440p realistic on a card at this tier, and the newer XeSS frame generation runs on this card as well
  • Full AV1 encode and decode, which is genuinely ahead of what NVIDIA offer at this price and matters if you record or stream
