The cheapest machine we are willing to put our name on
Reise is our entry point, and the interesting thing about it is what we refused to cut. It is on the AM5 socket rather than a dead-end platform. It has a B850 board with a PCIe 5.0 graphics slot rather than the A620 or B840 boards that usually appear at this price. It has a 750W power supply when 550W would do, and a case with three fans already in it.
All of that costs money that does not show up in a frame rate today. What it buys you is a machine that is still worth upgrading in three years instead of one you have to replace.
What you get now is comfortable 1080p at high refresh, and 1440p at sensible settings with DLSS doing some of the work.
🧬 Built to last, designed to evolve
This system is built on AMD's latest AM5 platform, which offers one of the best upgrade paths available today. That means you can start with a great processor now and still have room to move up the stack later, while keeping the same motherboard, case, power supply and most of your core components. On this build in particular that is the whole point: the socket, the board, the case and the power supply are all specified to outlast the parts currently fitted to them.
📃 Specifications
- 🧠 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500F
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- 6 cores, 12 threads of Zen 4, boosting to 5.0GHz, with 32MB of L3 cache
- The 7500F is the 7600 without the integrated graphics, and because you are fitting a graphics card anyway, that omission costs you nothing and saves real money. It is the sensible entry point to AM5 and it is what we fit across our whole value tier
- 65W TDP, so it runs cool and does not demand an expensive cooler to behave itself
- With this graphics card the card sets your frame rate, not the processor. Spending more here would not show up on screen
- AM5 is a live socket. When you do want more processor, a 7800X3D or a 9800X3D drops straight in without touching anything else, and that is the single biggest reason this machine is worth more than its price suggests
- ❄️ CPU cooler: AMD Wraith Stealth, supplied with the processor
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- The low-profile cooler AMD ship in the box. It keeps a 65W 7500F within its limits and it is genuinely adequate for the processor fitted
- We would still recommend upgrading it, and we will say why rather than just offering it. The Wraith is a small aluminium cooler with a fast, small fan. It is not that it cools badly, it is that it has to spin quickly to do the job, and fan speed is what you actually hear. A tower cooler does the same work far more quietly
- The tower cooler upgrade is in the quick-add options below, and it is the first thing we would spend money on if this were our machine
- If you ever upgrade the processor, the tower cooler stops being optional. A 7800X3D or 9800X3D wants more than the Wraith can give it
- The case takes coolers up to 175mm tall, so there is no practical limit on what you could fit later
- 🔲 Motherboard: ASRock B850M-X WiFi R2.0 (micro-ATX)
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- B850, not A620 or B840. Most machines at this price sit on a cut-down chipset, and that is where a cheap build quietly becomes a dead end. B850 is the current mainstream AM5 chipset and it takes anything AMD currently sell for this socket
- PCIe 5.0 x16 graphics slot, steel reinforced. Worth stating precisely, because Gen5 graphics slots are optional on B850 and plenty of boards only give you Gen4. The R2.0 revision of this board specifically has the Gen5 slot and the metal bracing, and the bracing is the part that matters day to day with a card hanging off it
- 6+1+1 phase Dr.MOS power delivery with a heatsink fitted, which many boards at this price omit entirely. Comfortable for the 7500F and comfortable for anything you would upgrade to
- Two M.2 slots, the first PCIe Gen5 x4 with a heatsink and the second Gen4 x4. One stays free on this build. Four SATA ports as well
- Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, which is faster than the gigabit ports usually fitted at this price
- A BIOS Flashback button on the rear panel and four diagnostic LEDs for processor, memory, graphics and boot. Builder's features, but they are part of why we pick this board
- Realtek ALC897 audio, the standard codec at this level and fine for a headset
- Three addressable RGB headers, which is what drives the case lighting
- Two memory slots rather than four. That is worth knowing before you plan an upgrade, and there is a note about it below
- PC36 only uses motherboards chosen for stability and longevity. See our Trusted brands page
- 📏 Memory / RAM: 16GB (1×16GB) DDR5-5600 CL36
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- DDR5-5600 CL36, which is the speed the 7500F's memory controller runs natively. Our higher builds use 6000 CL36, and on a machine at this tier the difference is not something you would pick out
- One stick rather than two, and we will explain the reasoning properly rather than gloss over it. DDR5 pricing is unusually high at the moment. A second stick adds a meaningful amount to a machine at this price, and fitting one is how we hold the build where it is without taking anything out of the graphics card
- The honest numbers. A single DDR5 stick is not penalised the way a single DDR4 stick was, because each DDR5 module runs two independent sub-channels internally rather than one. The gap against a matched pair is real but small: roughly 4 to 9 percent in genuinely processor-intensive games, and close to nothing everywhere else. In the games this build is bought for, the graphics card is the limit long before the memory is
- If you would rather have dual channel from day one, ask us on live chat and we will fit 2×8GB for a small supplement. We would not usually recommend it, and on this board in particular: there are only two memory slots, so a pair of 8GB sticks fills them both, and getting to 32GB later means throwing both away. The single 16GB stick leaves a slot free, so adding a matching stick gives you 32GB in dual channel for the price of one
- 16GB is enough for every current game at these resolutions
- Specification guaranteed, model may vary. Happy to confirm the exact part on request
- 💾 Storage: 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- Rated at 5,000MB/s or better. Games load in seconds and Windows feels instant
- This is a QLC drive, which is the honest tier for this price. It is quick for everything you will do day to day, and it slows down only during very long sustained writes such as moving hundreds of gigabytes in one go. For gaming and normal use you would not notice
- We fit 1TB as standard across the whole range rather than varying it by price, so comparing our machines to each other is straightforward. The 2TB option is below
- The drive goes in the Gen5 slot under its heatsink, and the second M.2 slot stays free
- Specification guaranteed, model may vary. Happy to confirm the exact part on request
- 🎮 Graphics card: NVIDIA RTX 5060 8GB
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- Blackwell with 8GB of GDDR7. Very high frame rates at 1080p in competitive titles, and comfortable 1440p in most modern games with settings adjusted sensibly
- DLSS 4 with multi frame generation, which is where this card earns its place at this price. In supported titles it lifts frame rates substantially, and NVIDIA's upscaling is still the best in the business
- NVENC for streaming and recording, which is the encoder most streaming software prefers and handles best
- Around 145W under load, so it puts very little heat into the case and asks very little of the power supply
- Being straight about the 8GB: at 1080p it is not a limitation. At 1440p with textures set to maximum in the heaviest recent titles you can run into it. Turning texture quality down one notch costs almost nothing visually and removes the problem entirely. If you would rather have more memory, the RX 9060 XT 16GB option below is the answer
- The chipset and VRAM are guaranteed: it will always be an RTX 5060 with 8GB. The AIB brand varies with availability, and we only use established manufacturers. See our Trusted brands page for more info
- 🧰 Case: Phanteks XT M3 M25, Black
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- 460 × 235 × 370mm, about 40 litres. Micro-ATX and Mini-ITX, four expansion slots. Steel chassis with a tempered glass side panel and an ultra-fine mesh front
- Dual chamber. The motherboard, processor and graphics card sit behind the glass. The power supply, the drives and the cabling live in a second chamber on the other side of the tray, behind a metal cover plate. That is why the visible side stays clean without heroic cable work
- Three 120mm addressable RGB fans included, two in the front as intake and one at the rear as exhaust. Four-pin PWM, twelve LEDs each, daisy-chained
- An anti-sag graphics card support bracket is included in the box, and we fit it
- Graphics cards up to 405mm with the front fans fitted, CPU coolers up to 175mm. Neither is close to a limit here
- Front I/O is a USB-C port, one USB-A and a combined headphone and microphone jack
- Nine 120mm fan mounts in total: three in the top, two at the front, three in the base and one at the rear. The base mounts sit directly under the graphics card, which is the cleverest thing about this chassis and is available as an upgrade below
- Two 2.5 inch and one 3.5 inch drive mount behind the tray. Also supports rear-connector motherboards, though we build with conventional boards as standard
- Phanteks back it with a five year warranty
- 🌬️ Case cooling: 2 × 120mm ARGB front intake and 1 × 120mm ARGB rear exhaust, all included with the case
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- Front to back airflow, which is the configuration this case is designed around. Cool air in through the fine mesh front, warm air out of the back
- All three fans come with the case, so there is no fan cost hidden in this build and no empty mount doing nothing
- Four-pin PWM fans wired to the motherboard headers, with the lighting on the board's addressable headers. Fan curves are set by hand before dispatch and verified through our standard stress testing rather than left on the board's defaults
- The three base mounts sit directly beneath the graphics card and are empty as standard. On a 145W card that is not a limitation, but it is the obvious place to add cooling later or if you upgrade the card. See the options below
- This is a low heat load in a 40 litre case. A 65W processor and a 145W graphics card with three fans is an easy job, and the machine is quiet in normal use
- ⚡ Power supply: Deepcool PL750D 750W 80+ Bronze, ATX 3.1 certified
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- 750W on a machine that draws under 250W, and that is the point. A 550W unit would run this build. This one will run an RTX 5070 Ti or an RX 9070 XT without being replaced, so the graphics card upgrade most people make in two or three years is a fifteen minute job rather than a rebuild
- ATX 3.1 certified with a native 12V-2x6 connector, so it is built to absorb the sudden power spikes modern graphics cards produce and a future NVIDIA card plugs straight in with no adaptor
- Fixed cables rather than modular. In this case they live in the second chamber behind the cover plate, out of sight of the glass. It is the one place we have taken the cheaper option on this build, and we would rather point at it than let you find it
- Deepcool back it with a 10 year warranty, which is not something a manufacturer offers on a unit it expects to see returned
- 🔌 Cabling: Black cabling, routed into the second chamber
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- Everything routed through the tray into the second chamber and tied down there, with the metal cover plate over the excess
- The dual chamber layout does most of the work here, which is a large part of why this case is worth the small premium over the cheapest options
- Braided cable extensions are available if you want the visible runs finished properly. See the upgrade options below
- 📶 WiFi / Bluetooth / Ethernet: Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2 and 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, included
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- Built into the ASRock B850M-X WiFi R2.0. No separate adapter needed, and the aerial is supplied in the box
- Wi-Fi 6E adds the 6GHz band, which is usually far less congested than 2.4 and 5GHz if your router supports it. It is well ahead of any UK domestic broadband connection
- 2.5 Gigabit wired Ethernet, which we would still recommend over wireless for competitive play
- 🪟 Operating system: As chosen by you from the listing options below. Windows 11 Home (OEM) is recommended.
- 🧹 Setup and optimisation: PC36 High-Class Standard. Full stress test with certificate, bloat-free installation, and BIOS set up properly
Click or tap for deeper spec info
PC36 High-Class Standard, included free with every build
- Ready the moment you open the box. Your PC boots straight into Windows with a local account already set up. No account sign-in wall, no first-run questionnaire, no half-hour of setup before you can use the machine you just bought
- BIOS updated and configured properly: manual fan curves, PBO enabled, EXPO enabled, Secure Boot enabled
- Vanilla Windows 11 installation if you choose Windows, with no bloatware added by us, and all drivers loaded and ready to go
- Full stress test with certificate. Every system is torture tested on CPU, RAM and GPU before dispatch, and ships with the certificate to prove it. That is the same test our four thousand pound machines get
PC36 Premier Optimisation, available in the listing options
- CPU tuning to bring thermals and noise down with minimal performance loss, plus a deeper strip and debloat of Windows and a hand-tuned fan profile
- Honest ordering on this build: the tower cooler upgrade will do more for how this machine sounds than Premier will, because the stock cooler's fan is the noise. Take the cooler first, then this
PC36 Ultimate Performance Tune, available in the listing options
- Advanced overclocking: memory tune, CPU tune and GPU overclock on top of everything in Premier
- Not the machine for it, and we will say so. This build is limited by the graphics card, and a processor overclock will not change your frame rate. Every pound spent here would do more good spent on the graphics card
- 🛡️ Warranty: 3 years parts & labour (return to base)
Click or tap for deeper spec info
- Standard 3-year coverage included, parts and labour both. The same warranty as every machine we sell, regardless of price
- Optional extended warranties in the listing options below
Why don't all parts list a brand and model?
Most of our spec is named exactly. The processor, motherboard, case, cooler and power supply are the models listed, every time.
For memory, storage and graphics cards we give a performance and quality guarantee instead of a model name. Supply on these three moves constantly, and pricing with it. Rather than list a part we might not be able to source next week, we commit to the specification: capacity, speed, timings, endurance class. And for graphics cards, we will always give you the chipset (e.g. RTX 5060) and VRAM (e.g. 8GB) that is listed.
We only use parts from established manufacturers. In practice the difference between two well-made components at the same specification is small enough that most people would never notice it.
If you'd like to know exactly what's going into your machine, ask before you order and we'll tell you. If you'd prefer a particular model, we can usually accommodate that, and you'd pay the difference in cost.
👁️ Transparency notes
-
The stock CPU cooler is adequate, but we recommend choosing to upgrade it for noise and thermal improvement (click or tap to read more)
It cools the processor properly, but it does so with a small fan spinning fast, and that is what you will hear. A tower cooler is the cheapest meaningful improvement available on this listing and it is in the options below. We would rather tell you that than let you buy the machine and wonder.
-
This build uses single channel RAM, which offers a price saving but a very small performance loss (click or tap to read more)
The gap against a matched pair is roughly 4 to 9 percent in processor-intensive games and close to nothing elsewhere, because DDR5 modules run two sub-channels internally rather than one. We fit one stick because DDR5 prices are high at the moment and the money is better spent on the graphics card. Adding a matching 16GB stick later gives you 32GB in dual channel, and that is the end of that road because there is no third slot. If you would rather have 2×8GB in dual channel from the start we will fit it on request, though we would not usually recommend it. Worth deciding at the point of order rather than afterwards.

🛠️ Popular upgrade options
- Tower CPU cooler: choose it from the quick-add upgrades, or speak with us via live chat.
Click or tap for more info
The upgrade we would take first, without hesitation. A tower cooler has far more surface area than the Wraith, so its larger fan turns slowly to do the same job, and slow fans are quiet fans. It is the single biggest change you can make to how this machine sounds, and it costs less than any other upgrade on this list. It also becomes necessary rather than optional if you ever fit a faster processor.
- Memory upgrade to 32GB (2×16GB) dual channel: available in the listing options below.
Click or tap for more info
Worth taking now if you stream, edit, or keep a lot open alongside a game, because it also gets you dual channel memory rather than single. If you only play games, 16GB is genuinely enough and you can add the second stick whenever you like. Just remember the board has two slots, so 32GB is where this route ends.
- Graphics card upgrade to RX 9060 XT 16GB: choose it from the quick-add upgrades, or speak with us via live chat.
Click or tap for more info
Faster than the 5060 and it doubles the video memory to 16GB, which removes the texture caveat above completely. The trade is that Radeon is still behind NVIDIA on ray tracing and on upscaling quality, so if you play a lot of ray traced games or rely on DLSS, the 5060 may still suit you better. Tell us what you actually play and we will give you a straight answer.
- Storage upgrade to 2TB: available in the listing options below.
Click or tap for more info
Worth it if you keep more than about eight large games installed at once. Modern AAA installs regularly run past 150GB each. You can defer it, since the second M.2 slot stays free and the case takes three more drives.
- Three 120mm intake fans in the base: available via live chat.
Click or tap for more info
The base mounts sit directly under the graphics card, and feeding it cool air from below is the best idea in this chassis. On a 145W card as fitted it is not needed, which is why we leave them empty rather than charging you for fans that are not earning their place. It becomes genuinely worthwhile if you upgrade to a much larger card, or if the machine will live somewhere warm. Ask us and we will price it.
- CPU upgrade to Ryzen 5 9600X or Ryzen 7 7800X3D: available via live chat.
Click or tap for more info
Both are real steps up, and both want the tower cooler fitted at the same time. Worth it if you play CPU-limited games at high refresh rates, such as competitive shooters at 1080p or heavily modded simulation games. With this graphics card at 1440p you would not usually see the difference, so if the goal is more frames, the graphics card is where the money should go first. Talk to us and we will tell you honestly which side of that line your games fall.
- 850W Gold power supply: available via live chat.
Click or tap for more info
Not needed for this build and not needed for the obvious upgrades either, since the 750W unit already covers everything up to a 5070 Ti. Worth it only if you already know you are heading somewhere much larger, in which case doing it once is cheaper than doing it twice.
- Braided cable extensions: available via live chat.
Click or tap for more info
Purely cosmetic. The dual chamber layout already hides most of the cabling, so this does less here than it does in our showcase cases. Worth it if you want the visible runs to look finished.
- Extended warranty: available in the listing options below.
- Anything else: speak with us via live chat. We build these to order, so most things are possible if you ask before you buy.
